Pray for the Church
Praise God for conversing with us in prayer. Ask Him to develop us into a people of prayer. Pray we will also be a faith family who actively pursues sinners and extends grace to all who are tempted and led astray. Ask God to guard us from temptation and to prepare us for Christ’s return.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the local evangelism and disciple-making efforts of Birmingham Gospel Outreach (BGO), a
local ministry dedicated to church mobilization, disciple multiplication, and gospel saturation in the Birmingham Metro Area.
We are also praying for Lakeside Baptist Church and Pastor Greg Corbin.
Day 1: Pray for those laboring with BGO to love Jesus more deeply and make Him known more boldly within their networks and neighborhoods.
Day 2: Ask the Lord to raise up more laborers for the harvest in our city, adding dedicated laborers to the Southside, Pelham, Hoover, and East Lake teams, and establishing new teams in other areas of our city.
Day 3: Pray for those who have responded in repentance and faith this year, for them to bear fruit in keeping with repentance and commit themselves to a local body of believers.
Day 4: Pray for the unbelievers who are participating in Discovery Bible studies or Storytelling Nights to get to know Jesus through His Word. Ask the Lord to open their eyes and help them in their unbelief.
Day 5: Pray for a family from Saudi Arabia who is seriously considering the cost of following Jesus. Ask the Father to give them the gift of faith during their last few weeks in the US.
Day 6: Pray for the four-day disciple-making training on November 20-23, a collaborative effort of BGO and E3 Partners. Pray for participants to be equipped, encouraged, and challenged in their faith and in personal evangelism.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the Southern Pashtun of Afghanistan. The Pashtun make up the largest population of people in Afghanistan, the Southern Pashtun being the largest bloc. Pashtun on both sides of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border comprise what has been called the largest Muslim tribal society in the world. Christians among them remain few. The Islamic religion is very difficult to influence, and conversion to Christianity most likely results in banishment from society and family. Consequently, there is little growth among the Pashtun. Join us as we pray for the Southern Pashtun of Afghanistan. We are also praying for our team serving in Liberia.
Day 1: There is little to no gospel work among this large and difficult people group. Ask God to call believers, perhaps even from Brook Hills, to live and work in Afghanistan and share Christ with the Pashtun.
Day 2: Pashtun culture adheres to a rigid “code of ethics” making the influence of outsiders very difficult. Ask God to soften the hearts of the Pashtun towards Christians so they will be open to the gospel.
Day 3: Afghanistan can be a violent and volatile place. Ask God to open the doors and provide pathways for believers and Christian agencies to work among the Pashtun.
Day 4: Pray for peace in the land of the Pashtun people.
Day 5: Despite the challenges, there are some Pashtun believers in Afghanistan. Many are isolated and fearful. Pray for God to encourage and protect the small number of Pashtun believers and strengthen the church as they study the Word and gather together.
Day 6: Pray for God to move among the Pashtun. Pray for God to raise up faithful, gospel proclaiming believers and provide the way forward so the gospel can spread and many Pashtun hearts will turn to Christ.
