Pray for the Church
Praise God for the signs recorded in God’s Word, which point to Jesus as the Son of God. Ask God to help us all grow in our faith and trust in Him. Pray we will all grow in our reliance upon Him and His provision in our lives. Thank God for the eternal life made available through faith in His Son, Jesus.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for the weekly Bible study and outreach at Olivia’s House led by Brook Hills’ members. Olivia’s House is an alcohol and drug abuse treatment center that provides holistic care for chemically dependent women and their children. Olivia’s House has granted Brook Hills the unique opportunity to provide weekly Biblical teaching to the residents of their secular recovery program. We’re also praying this week for 45th Street Baptist Church and Reverend Andra Sparks.
Day 1: Pray for the women to choose to attend the weekly Bible study led by BH members. Ask the Lord to prepare hearts, ignite a desire in them to hear and read the Word, and to repent and believe in Jesus Christ for their salvation.
Day 2: Pray for the women and their children living at Olivia’s House to desire and achieve freedom from addiction and make healthy choices leading to productive lives for themselves and their families.
Day 3: Pray for the new director to seek God’s direction and for positive change to facilitate daily management of Olivia’s House. Pray for the staff to work in unity to best counsel and provide for the women’s and children's needs with godly wisdom, love, and diligence.
Day 4: Pray for God to continue to allow and grow a BH presence at Olivia’s House. Pray for favor with the director, staff, and women. Pray for God’s guidance as the volunteers prepare to teach the Word and speak His truth, and for the glory of His name to be praised.
Day 5: Pray for the many pregnant mothers being placed at Olivia’s House by the court to have healthy babies. Pray for those who have children in family custody or DHR custody to receive effective parent training and demonstrate a changed life free of addiction. Pray for our women as they care for them too.
Day 6: Pray for the Lord to be at work as clients leave Olivia’s House to lead them away from temptation, expose the enemy’s lies, heal brokenness, and give courage to seek and follow Jesus above all. Pray they will unite with a church family.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for the people of China and those specifically affected in the Hubei Province city of Wuhan from the Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV). Wuhan is a sprawling industrial city of 11 million people in central China at the heart of the Coronavirus epidemic. The people of Wuhan are now two weeks into a state-imposed lockdown and isolation from the rest of the world at the hands of the authoritarian Chinese government trying to contain the spread of infection. All normal activity has stopped. Many residents feel upended and their futures are in a disorienting limbo. The Coronavirus has spread to over 20 countries and the global impact of this infection is causing widespread fear and suffering. Join us as we pray for the people of Wuhan, the country of China, and the rest of the world.
Day 1: Wuhan – There are thousands who are infected with the Coronavirus in the city of Wuhan and surrounding Hubei Province. Hundreds have perished. Most of whom, it is safe to say, without knowing Christ. Pray for God to heal those who are suffering. Pray for God to move in the hearts of the people and for the power of the gospel to be made known throughout Wuhan.
Day 2: Fear – Amidst high levels of fear and anxiety, pray that Christians all over the world would use this opportunity to show how we can trust God with our safety and our future.
Day 3: China – Pray for believers in China to endure in faith in Christ Jesus and for boldness in this season so others might know him as well. Pray for the church in China to be on display as those who serve and are willing to care for those who are suffering because of what Christ did for us.
Day 4: Wisdom – Pray that God would grant wisdom to healthcare workers and public health officials around the world as they work to contain the spread of this infection.
Day 5: Family – With many affected areas in China and throughout Southeast Asia under home quarantine, pray that God would use this time to help families grow closer together.
Day 6: The World – Pray for the spread of this infection to cease. Pray for those who are fearful to seek the one who can give hope and confidence of future glory. Pray for many to hear the gospel and believe in Christ.
