Pray for the Church
Praise God for destroying the walls of hostility that divide us and for uniting us together in His family, the Church. Pray we will view all people as created in God’s image, no matter what differences between us may exist. Lament over the ways the church has historically failed minorities in our country. Ask God to grow our love for one another and our neighbors, and pray for us to be known for our love above all else. Ask God to continue to do His work of reconciliation in our lives with Him and with one another. Ask for His wisdom to know how we can all do justice and seek good for all peoples.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Restoration Academy, a K-12 Christian school located in Fairfield, AL, with over 300 students. Their mission is to provide an excellent, Christ-centered education to students predominantly from lower-income African American families. Restoration Academy is committed to meet individual students at their point of need, provide dynamic instruction and curriculum, competitive sports, and outlets for kids to grow into all that God desires. They also seek to help break generational cycles of poverty, violence, addiction, and fatherlessness and pursue racial reconciliation. We’re also praying this week for Urban Hope Community Church and Pastor Alton Hardy.
Day 1: Pray for the administration and teachers as they continue to plan and adjust for the new school year affected by COVID-19. Pray they would walk in faithful obedience to God’s will and would be encouraged and strengthened by His Spirit.
Day 2: Pray for opportunities for RA’s church leaders as they tirelessly deliver the gospel each week. Pray as the gospel is preached, it will take hold in each student’s heart.
Day 3: Pray for the health of the entire RA family, including faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and supporters. Pray for COVID-19 to have no hold on RA or anyone within it.
Day 4: Pray for healing and peace in our nation and our communities. Pray for the students who have already put their faith in Christ to be salt and light in their community, school, and family. Pray they will be able to discern the will of God, would have the courage to be set apart from the rest of the world, and would help move our country and city into a place of peace.
Day 5: Pray for the families of the students, many of which are facing financial and family difficulties. Pray, through Christ, their relationship with God and with others would be reconciled and their basic needs would be met.
Day 6: Pray for the frontline and essential workers in our city, many of whom are parents and caregivers of their students. Pray for them and their families to remain COVID-free. Pray for the complete eradication of COVID-19 from our city.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for City Bible Church in Beirut, Lebanon. City Bible Church is in the heart of Beirut and was destroyed due to the explosions on August 4, 2020. Even before the explosions of August 4 , the people of Lebanon had experienced a long season of suffering. Lebanon is in the middle of an economic crisis, a revolution against a corrupt government, a famine in the countryside, major wildfires, and the Covid-19 pandemic further straining a fragile healthcare system. The explosions on August 4 have now crippled the primary port of a country desperately dependent on imports for survival and left approximately half of Beirut’s population effectively homeless. The people of Lebanon feel hopeless, forgotten, and even cursed. Join us this week as we pray for City Bible Church and the people of Beirut.
Day 1: Pray for the people of Beirut. Pray for clear steps forward for Beirut and Lebanon to rebuild and reset without further disaster or conflict.
Day 2: Pray for God’s mercy in the relief of wounds, hunger, homelessness, unemployment, and other trauma faced by the Lebanese people. Pray specifically that God would use the believers at City Bible Church Beirut to extend His mercy to those who are suffering and for the gospel to be made clear to those who do not know Christ.
Day 3: Pray for Government officials that care well for Lebanon and who the Lebanese people trust.
Day 4: Pray for the believers at City Bible Church to be a faithful gospel witness in the face of immense suffering.
Day 5: Pray for more workers for the task of church planting in Beirut and the Middle East.
Day 6: Pray for the gospel to move forward and for people to come to know Jesus as Savior.
