Pray for the Church
Praise God for Jesus’ sacrificial death on the cross, which made the way for us to be reconciled to Him. Confess and repent of your own sin in your life, and ask and thank God for His forgiveness. Praise Him for Jesus’ resurrection, which demonstrates His power over sin and death. Thank God for the faith He grants us through His grace so we might be saved.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Christian Service Mission (CSM), a ministry committed to loving the underserved and under-resourced residents of Birmingham in partnership with local churches. They serve the community through acts of service by providing spiritual, social, and tangible resources for the purpose of seeing healthy change. Currently, they are also working to serve those affected by COVID-19 through food support. We are also praying for Christ Church, UMC and Pastor Paul Lawler.
Day 1: CSM’s ministry is only possible with the participation of the local church. Pray for unity in the Body of Christ as participating congregations and Christ followers come together to serve the city alongside CSM for the sake of gospel advancement.
Day 2: Pray for the continued health and safety of the CSM staff and volunteers as they continue to serve our city during COVID-19.
Day 3: In normal operations, CSM serves around 10,000 families per month with food resources through 50 church partnerships. During this pandemic they are seeking to provide food for an additional 20,000 families. Pray for the Lord to bring the resources required to meet this need.
Day 4: The Housing Ministry of CSM works to repair and build new homes, improve living conditions, and develop communities within the inner city. Pray they would love and serve families well and encourage individuals toward healthier lives physically, spiritually, and socially.
Day 5: Pray for CSM’s Evangelism Ministry and its many outreach programs that take place during the year. Pray for Christ to be exalted as His gospel is proclaimed throughout the city.
Day 6: Pray for the leadership at CSM to humbly seek the Lord for all guidance, wisdom, discernment, favor, and blessing. Pray for their service to the community to be an overflow of the love and mercy they have received.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for Chris and Leah who are serving long-term in the Middle East. Chris and Leah just arrived in their new city a few months ago to come alongside the local church to engage the least reached in their city. Currently they are sheltered in place due to the spread of the virus in their city and adjusting to a new normal. Join us as we pray specifically for their family as they endure and for the name of Christ to be made known in and through them during these days.
Day 1: Chris and Leah are living in a temporary residence until they are able to secure a permanent home. Praise God for providing a place for them to stay. Pray for God to provide permanent housing for them soon.
Day 2: Covid-19 is spreading rapidly in their city and there are new cases each day. Pray for God to protect their family from the virus and for God to provide for their needs.
Day 3: Chris and Leah are very limited in their movements at this time as their city is locked down. This is challenging as they get to know their new teammates and partners in the city. Pray for God to establish a strong bond with their teammates in this unique season. Pray for unity to be developed even though they cannot be together physically.
Day 4: Pray for God to give wisdom and opportunities to Chris and Leah as they seek out ways to serve their local community. Pray for innovative ways to provide care for the people in their city that allows the gospel to take root.
Day 5: Pray for Leah as she develops new rhythms for homeschooling with the kids. Pray for their children as they adjust to a new culture and a new home particularly in this season of covid-19.
Day 6: Pray for the millions of people in Chris and Leah’s city who have never heard of Christ. Pray for God to make His salvation known and use Chris and Leah’s family to do it.
