Pray for the Church
Praise God for His good design for sex. Pray we will all look first to God’s Word for our understanding of sex and sexuality in our own lives and in our culture. Ask God to bring to light and redeem any sexual sin among us. Pray for God to strengthen marriages through the intimacy share between spouses. Pray for us all to hold firm to a biblical sexual ethic even as we are bombarded with temptations and distortions of what God designed sex to be.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Banks Academy, a private Christian high school in East Lake with a mission to train and educate students with excellence and provide hope for a bright future. They particularly serve low-income families in the eastern Birmingham area. We want to especially pray for Brook Hills members Darryl White, Shayla Carter, and Nathan Graham, as they serve in leadership with the school. We are also praying for Zion Springs Baptist Church in Avondale, and Pastor Adam Mixon.
Day 1: Pray for the teachers and staff at Banks Academy to stay focused on their desire and goal to present the Lord Jesus to their students and impact their lives forever.
Day 2: Pray for the development of the board of directors as new members are recruited this year.
Day 3: Pray for sufficient financial support through donors and partners.
Day 4: Pray for guidance for leaders and board members as they continue to seek a permanent location for Banks Academy.
Day 5: Pray God will bring new students for the 2019-20 school year.
Day 6: Pray for wisdom as new staff members are interviewed and hired.
Pray for the World
This week we want to ask the faith family to pray specifically for members who were sent out to serve long-term in contexts around the world. There are many needs that some of them asked us to pray for. Please join us as we pray for our people who are living and working in other contexts engaging least reached peoples with the gospel.
Day 1: Please pray for Dwight and Mary Kay Martin and their family in the recent passing of Mary Kay’s mother. The Martins live and work in Thailand and lead church planting efforts among least reached people groups. Pray for Mary Kay especially as she spends time with her family and finalizes details of her mother’s estate.
Day 2: All of the individuals and families that Brook Hills has sent out face cross-cultural stress on an everyday basis. Pray for their joy in the midst of stress. Pray those we’ve sent from Brook Hills would experience the joy of intimacy with Christ in the midst of this stress.
Day 3: Pray for Caleb and Beth T. serving in Southeast Asia as they have been battling significant sickness with two of their young daughters being in the hospital. Pray for God to continue to restore the health of their family and to provide rest during this difficult season.
Day 4: Praise God for the arrival of a new son for Josh and Monika K. who are serving in North Africa. Pray for Josh and Monika as they adjust to life as a family of four. Pray for their family to be a display of God’s grace to those they are sharing the gospel with.
Day 5: We are excited to welcome Jessica S. who serves on our North Africa Church Planting Team back to Birmingham for a few months. Pray for God to provide times of rest and encouragement while she is with us.
Day 6: Chris and Leah serve on our East Asia Church Planting Team and will be transitioning to the Middle East this fall. Please pray for Leah’s mom who was diagnosed with cancer a few months ago.
