Pray for the Church
Praise God for the ever-present help He is in times of trouble and uncertainty. Pray for God to work all things together for our good and His glory as we face the coronavirus pandemic. Ask Him to grow our faith and to remove our fears. Pray for God, in His mercy, to cease the spread of this disease. Ask God to grant wisdom to leaders of our church, our city, our state, our country, and our world as they direct us in the best courses of action for prevention and care. Pray for the workers we have serving around the world to be protected and comforted. Ask God to help us all make the most of any opportunities we may have to point people to the comfort and salvation ultimately found in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for The Lovelady Center, a residential Christian ministry dedicated to empowering women to overcome barriers such as addiction, homelessness, and re-entry from prison, and to walk forward with faith-driven hope for the future. The Lovelady Center serves over 500 women and children daily, and is the largest transitional program of its kind in the United States. The Lovelady Center hosts women and their children for six to nine months and partners with WorkFaith Birmingham to prepare each of them for work as they leave the center. We are also praying this week for North Shelby Baptist Church and Pastor Mark Meadows.
Day 1: Pray for the women and children at The Lovelady Center to be open and responsive to the gospel and receptive to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
Day 2: Pray for wisdom for the staff and leadership as they discern the unique needs of each woman and child.
Day 3: Pray for the volunteers to follow God’s leading as He uses them to help restore women and their children to His good design for their lives.
Day 4: Pray for God to continue to meet the financial needs of the ministry and to bless the donors for their generosity.
Day 5: Pray for God to continue to equip and send members of the Body of Christ to partner with The Lovelady Center in ministry to some of the most vulnerable in our city.
Day 6: Pray for continued protection over the center, the women, and their children as they seek refuge and restoration.
Pray for the World
This week we want to pray for the Malay of Malaysia. The Malay are the majority people group of Malaysia. In Malaysia, people are classified as Malay by the federal constitution if they: speak the national language (Bahasa Malay), practice Malay customs, and are followers of Islam. There are very few Malay believers. It is illegal to proselytize a Malay and those that do become Christians are subject to harsh persecution. Join us as we pray that the Lord would use our Church Planting teams to make Christ known throughout Malaysia.
Day 1: Pray for the more than 7 million Malay in peninsular Malaysia to have opportunities to hear the gospel. Pray for God to open wide the doors for the gospel to be heard in their language and for many to believe.
Day 2: Pray for God to reveal Himself to Malay men and women in ways that make them want to seek out the one true God. Pray for Malay men and women to come in contact with believers who will be faithful to share the gospel.
Day 3: To be Malay is to be Muslim. It is their culture and heritage. Pray for the Malay to be delivered from Satan’s lies that hold them so tightly to tradition.
Day 4: Pray for the Malay to understand that Jesus, the true Lamb, died as a substitutionary sacrifice for sin.
Day 5: Pray for members of our faith family who have moved to Malaysia to work and live and engage the lost with the gospel. Pray for God to give them success as they strive to integrate into and thrive in their new community.
Day 6: Pray for the Malay to realize they are unable to turn from sin on their own. Pray for God to save many Malay.
