Pray for the Church
Praise God for the guidance in how to live He gives us through His Word. Ask Him to grow our trust in and faithfulness to Him and His leading. Pray for us all to rely on His strength to resist the temptations of this world. Pray we will all confess any sin to God and eagerly seek and gratefully and humbly receive His forgiveness.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for King’s Home, a Christian ministry in Shelby County that provides homes and counseling for hundreds of youth, women, and children seeking refuge, hope, and help from abuse, neglect, abandonment, homelessness, and other difficult and impoverished conditions and circumstances. We are also praying for Westwood Baptist and Pastor Kenneth Bruce.
DAY 1: Pray for the safety and salvation of every woman, teen, and child at King’s Home. Pray they might know Jesus as their Lord, Savior, Protector, and Healer.
DAY 2: Pray for the house parents providing 24/7 care to several hurting teens. Pray for the Lord to sustain and encourage them in this difficult work.
DAY 3: Pray for the Therapeutic Foster Care Program, specifically that new foster families from the community would undergo training and welcome a foster child.
DAY 4: Pray for the ministry’s thrift program to bless the community and provide financial resources to King’s Home.
DAY 5: Pray for the King’s Home to truly minister to the women and mothers they serve by providing resources to help them sustain independence.
DAY 6: Pray for each resident to believe and be encouraged by the truth that God knows them and loves them, and that Christ has come to give them abundant life.
Pray for the World
Our purpose as The Church at Brook Hills is to love Jesus, grow in Jesus, and make disciples of Jesus in Birmingham and in all nations. As we fulfill this purpose, our ultimate goal is to see God’s name glorified among people who have never heard of Christ. One of the strategic ways we mobilize our faith family for long-term disciple-making is to go on short-term mission together. We want to be a church of world-impacting disciples and going short-term is a great step toward that goal. This week we want to pray for ourselves as a church as we consider going short-term, and we want to pray for those we will encounter this year to be saved by the good news of Christ. Visit brookhills.org/shortterm for a complete list of trip opportunities for 2020.
DAY 1: Praise God for the opportunities He has opened up for our faith family to participate in short-term mission this year. Pray for God to receive glory as we serve the world and share the gospel in 2020.
DAY 2: Pray for the field partners who will receive our short-term teams this year. Pray for God to give wisdom in how best to utilize the teams to fuel their long-term disciple making efforts.
DAY 3: Pray for the men and women that our teams will encounter this year as we go. Pray for God to soften hearts towards Christ and for gospel conversations to be fruitful as they hear of salvation.
DAY 4: Pray for the five core areas of the world where we will focus our short-term efforts this year. Pray for Christ’s name to be made known in these areas and for many to believe as they hear the gospel.
DAY 5: Pray for the churches we partner with and encounter this year to be strengthened by our partnership together. Pray, as a result, many others in these partner countries will be mobilized to share the gospel and make disciples of all nations.
DAY 6: Pray for yourself. Pray for God to show you how He wants to use you, your family, and your small group this year on short-term mission.
