Pray for the Church
Praise God for the gift of His Word. Ask Him to help us strive for obedience to all of His commands. Thank Him for His grace and mercy even in the midst of our failures. Pray we will all grasp the missional role we have to play with our lives.
Pray for the City
This week we are praying for Birmingham Urban Young Life. The mission of Urban Young Life (UYL) is to introduce teens in inner city Birmingham to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. Urban Young Life staff and volunteers enter into the world of teenagers and all that matters to them in order to earn the privilege of talking to them about what matters most of all— the truth about God and His love for them. We’re also praying for Cahaba Park Presbyterian Church and Pastor Murray Lee.
Day 1: Pray for the students in our city to come to know the Lord and step into authentic discipleship. Pray that UYL volunteers will not be content with salvation alone for the students but will press on to make disciples that are sold out followers of Jesus Christ.
Day 2: Pray for the UYL students as they adjust to beginning a school year virtually. Pray for the effects distance learning will have on their home lives, social lives, and spiritual lives.
Day 3: Pray for the social and mental health of UYL students through this unprecedented time. Pray for those students to know the truth that they are not alone because the Lord is with them.
Day 4: Pray for UYL leaders and staff (especially Sedrick Moore who directs UYL) to overcome the obstacles that COVID-19 has created. Pray for continued strength and persistence in discipling students towards Jesus in the middle of a global pandemic.
Day 5: Pray for continued financial provision for UYL. Pray for additional resources, allowing UYL to hire several part-time staff from the city. Pray that by hiring these young leaders it will both strengthen UYL’s ministry and help recruit and train other leaders.
Day 6: Pray for solid UYL leaders who will show up in the lives of students. Pray that these leaders’ hearts are ready for the hard work of life-on-life ministry. Pray that these leaders will be filled by the Lord daily and will walk with their students for many years.
Pray for the World
This week we have the privilege of sending out six mid-termers to serve in various parts of the world. Mid-Termers serve 2 months – 2 years to infuse long-term disciple-making work among the least reached. It is our joy and privilege to send out three singles and one family to engage the least reached with the gospel. Join us as we pray for these mid-termers this week and for God to be glorified in and through their lives.
Day 1: Scott and Ann will be serving at an international school in East Africa for two years. Pray for traveling mercies as they take their three children under five across the globe and continued good physical and spiritual health as their family transitions into their new school community.
Day 2: Pray for humility for all of our mid-termers. Pray they would regard others as more significant than themselves as they seek to serve and share the gospel with those around them.
Day 3: Bella will be serving at a local prison for women in Central Asia. Pray for Bella to depend completely on the Spirit, knowing this is His work and for the Lord to bring freedom in Christ to many of the women.
Day 4: Josh will be serving a long-term church planting team in Spain for the next two years. Pray for God’s grace to get into country due to the pandemic and that God would prepare the hearts of men and women that Josh will engage with.
Day 5: Hannah will be serving in the Middle East for two years with a long-term team there that is mobilizing the local church among the least reached. Pray for her team’s visa process in the midst of COVID and for the Lord to give them favorable relationships with Muslims seeking real truth upon entry to their city.
Day 6: Pray for God to be glorified in and through all of our mid-termers that are being sent out.
