Scripture Memory
Pray for the Church
Praise God for the faith He credits as righteousness. Ask Him to help us stop trying to earn acceptance through our works and to live confidently in the salvation that only comes from Him. Pray for God to continue to unite us together as a faith family and with our other brother and sister followers of Christ. Pray we will all live trusting God to faithfully keep His Word.
Pray for the City
As Easter approaches, we are praying for the Brook Hills English as a Second Language Ministry (ESL) outreach efforts. The ESL Ministry serves English learners in the community by providing free English classes to men and women on Thursday mornings and evenings on our campus. The ESL Ministry aims to extend hospitality, establish community, and share the love of Jesus Christ with internationals living in Birmingham. We are also praying for Chelsea Village Baptist Church and Pastor Scott Slayton.
DAY 1: Pray for the 115 students from 22 countries who have participated in the ESL ministry this year. Pray for God to give them patience and understanding as they develop the skill of the English language. Pray also for understanding of the gospel as they come from so many different worldviews.
DAY 2: Pray for the ESL Easter Celebration on March 22. Pray for God to prepare students’ hearts to receive the gospel as it is discussed in their native languages by volunteers after a video and around a meal.
DAY 3: Pray for volunteers in every area of this ministry to help cultivate a hospitable environment for our students and to be effective communicators of the gospel through conversations inside and outside of class times.
DAY 4: Pray for the three students who are seeking to know more about Jesus to put their trust in Him soon.
DAY 5: Pray for the children and preschoolers of participants to also grow in their faith as a result of the Bible-centered activities and the demonstrations of Christ’s love from their teachers.
DAY 6: Pray for God to provide spiritual blessing as the ESL ministry seeks to make disciples of all nations. Pray for the gospel to be multiplied around the world through the participants.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for our Middle East Church Planting Team. A few years ago, God called out members of our faith family to go and serve in the Middle East among a very difficult people group where there are only a handful of hidden believers. During that time, we have sent Mid-Termers and other Long-Term families to serve on this team. God has opened many doors and given unique opportunities to share the gospel. But the work is difficult, and the laborers are few. Join us as we pray for our Brook Hills members who are serving in the Middle East and for the work God is accomplishing there. DAY 1: Pray for God to be glorified through the team that is working in the Middle East. We believe that our God is worthy of all worship from all peoples, and it is our hope to see this take place among the people they work with.
DAY 2: Pray for more laborers to join the work in the Middle East.
DAY 3: Pray for God to sustain our Brook Hills members who are currently on the field in the Middle East. The work is hard and can be discouraging. Pray for God to provide for their every need and to open the door for opportunities into the lives of those who are seeking truth.
DAY 4: Pray for the Middle East Team to have confidence in God’s Word and to trust in the faithfulness of God.
DAY 5: Pray for the Middle East Team to walk in humility as they seek to honor the Lord and accomplish the task they have been called to. Pray for dependence on God to direct their path and for wisdom to discern where He is leading.
DAY 6: Pray for God to rescue men and women across the Middle East and establish His church for His name’s sake.
