Pray for the Church
Praise God for His provision in our lives and for the generosity of our fellow faith family members. Ask Him for wisdom as we consider our proposed budget for the next year. Pray for us all to consider how we might join Him in His work here in and through Brook Hills by giving of all He has given us in support. Pray for Him to multiply our gifts and use them for His purposes and His glory.
Pray for the City
This week, we are praying for Jimmie Hale Mission (jimmiehalemission.com), a Christian ministry that includes the Shepura Men’s Center (homeless shelter for men), Jessie’s Place (a shelter for women and children), Royal Pines (a recovery center for men), recovery programs, and learning centers. The purpose of Jimmie Hale Mission is to minister to the spiritual, emotional, and physical needs of men, women, and children in our community through the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are also praying for Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and Pastor Michael Wesley.
DAY 1: Pray for the Jimmie Hale Mission clients. Pray specifically for the Lord’s guidance and graciousness as they unpack the many traumas in their lives. Pray JHM will be a place where they see the love of Christ throughout their healing process.
DAY 2: Pray for the volunteers at Jimmie Hale Mission. Pray they would be examples of Christ to those they minister to at Jimmie Hale. Pray the Lord would protect their families and their health as they continue to serve at Jimmie Hale.
DAY 3: Pray for the Jimmie Hale Mission staff. Pray specifically for the staff to use their work at the mission as an opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the most broken in our society. Pray for purpose and vision as they seek to love and serve their neighbors.
DAY 4: Pray for Perryn Carroll, Executive Director of JHM. Pray she might lead the organization with vision and integrity. Pray she would have strength and wisdom. Pray for the JHM board and staff to continue to trust God for His provision and direction.
DAY 5: Pray for financial provision for Jimmie Hale Mission. The fourth quarter of the year is where over half of their fundraising takes place, making it a critical time in the life of the mission. Pray for their capital campaign called “Lasting Transformation,” where they hope to raise six million dollars to construct livable spaces and provide for the needs of their clients so they may acclimate slowly and successfully back into society, healthy and whole.
DAY 6: Pray for the holiday season at Jimmie Hale Mission. Pray the love of God through Christ reaches and touches every heart. Pray for peace.
Pray for the World
This week we are praying for a short-term team that will be serving with our long term team in the Desert City.
DAY 1: Pray for travel mercies and for the Lord to go before the team and provide for their every need. Ask the Lord to sustain them and give them good health, strength, and energy as they serve each day.
DAY 2: Ask the Lord to prepare the team to be ready to engage in conversations that lead to spiritual discussion and ultimately gospel conversations and responses. Pray they will engage meaningfully with the people they meet and that God will make people aware of their need for Him in those conversations.
DAY 3: Pray the team will have the love of Christ, be bold, and be driven by the Spirit to speak with authority on the great news and the power of God to transform a person's life.
DAY 4: Pray the Lord would give the team unity and for they to work well with one another and our long-termers. Ask the Lord to bless their time in the Desert City, and pray they would be a blessing and encouragement to the long-termers serving there.
DAY 5: Ask the Lord to enable the team to work without hindrances, and pray distractions won’t derail them from their work. Pray they would be flexible and the Spirit would give them everything they need in every circumstance.
DAY 6: Pray for this trip to help the team learn and grow in their faith. Pray this trip would have lasting implications on the team and they would have a renewed purpose to live out the Great Commission when they return home.
